Inspector Gadget 1.0.0 iPhone iPod Touch

Inspector Gadget 1.0.0 iPhone iPod Touch | 7,49 MB
Having recently turned 25-years old, the clumsy, high-tech hero Inspector Gadget has just brought his own particular brand of bionic police work to the iPhone, courtesy of license holder Namco Bandai. "Inspector Gadget is a personal favourite for me, and a character who has gained a loyal global following, making him one of the most lovable icons of the cartoon crime-solving world," says Namco Bandai's pres, Barry O'Neill. "Inspector Gadget and the iPhone is a perfect partnership as one of the world's most famous gadget users meets one of the world's most famous gadgets." And it wouldn't be an adventure for the gizmo-laden copper without his niece Penny or the faithful mega-brainy dog, Brain, as they attempt to thwart the gruff-voice machinations of the evil Dr Claw.

The Inspector comes to us in a platform game using an unusual touchscreen controller. Six buttons are placed around the edges of the landscape-orientated screen to allow for quick and easy movements in all directions - a system that, from a distance, looks a bit easier to negotiate than the clumsy D-pads we have been seeing lately.

Sentinel 1.1 iPhone iPod Touch

Sentinel 1.1 iPhone iPod Touch | 8,47 MB
Sentinel - Tower defense (TD) games have proven to be a genre that can be done extremely well on the iPhone. The cream of the crop in this genre currently includes titles such as Fieldrunners, 7 Cities, The Creeps, and they all have their own quirks that make them unique. That hasn’t deterred Origin8 from delivering its spin on the space with the release of their new title.

There are two primary modes in Sentinel named Assault and Endurance (has to be unlocked) to get through. Assault (think campaign mode) provides up to four difficulty settings that be chosen over the course of the game’s two maps.
Your job in Sentinel is to place weapons and defenses on a map to destroy waves of alien monsters that have different strengths and weaknesses. Upon seeing the enemy types, it’s your job to layout a variety of weapons and defenses to counter what the enemy is bringing. For example, flying alien critters are best handled by “Laser” or “Beam” tower defenses while land monsters are best handled by “Bomb” and “Slow” tower defenses. Killing enemies gives you cash to upgrade towers or buy new ones altogether. With each passing wave, you can earn points that accumulate over time. When your game is over, you can upload your score to online leaderboards to see how you compare with folks all over the country.
Sentinel adds a few sprinkles to the TD formula that is worth nothing. Most TD games lay out a map without obstructions allowing enemies to freely navigate through the path to attack your base. Sentinel adds in obstructions and barriers that enemies have to destroy throughout the map before they can continue unimpeded to your base. This adds an additional layer of strategy as you’ll have to make choices about concentrating your towers around those barriers or spread towers all over the map. Cool repair droids (which cost money) can be bought to repair barriers that the enemies are chipping away at as well. Last point in this vein, Origin8 has integrated functionality to speed up Sentinel by pressing an onscreen toggle button. Good stuff all around here.

The Oregon Trail 1.1.2 iPhone iPod Touch

The Oregon Trail 1.1.2 iPhone iPod Touch | 49,5 MB
Journeying the 2000 miles of the Oregon Trail used to take a laborious six month hike through the steep mountains of the Continental Divide. Now, you just have to dig into the depths of your pockets and spend a good 2-3 hours running your fingers across a 9cm piece of glass.
It would take you longer to churn butter than run the iPhone's Oregon Trail, although it's just as rich. This stunningly vibrant remake rises to the top, combining humour and history in one trailblazing package. Just as the more than quarter of a million emigrants did starting in 1834, The Oregon Trail sets you off from St Louis, Missouri. You lead a family of five along the rough trail, maintaining your wagon and keeping food in good supply. The wellbeing of your family is balanced against the speed at which you travel. Travelling at a slow pace may keep your wagon in pristine condition, but it means eating more food because the trip takes longer, and risking a wintry arrival in Oregon. On the other hand, moving too fast tires out your family and wears down your wagon quickly.

2000 miles of trail is dotted with dozens of camps, river crossings, landmarks, and forts that mark your progress. These stops allow you to restock low supplies, talk with locals, and even take on simple quests such as delivering packages or competing in a wagon race.
Expanding on the educational appeal of the original Apple II release, dialogue with fellow trail-goers provides historical titbits and notable cameos that are as hilarious as they are informative.
Food stock can be replenished by purchasing goods at Matt's General Store in any fort, and you can trade with Native American villages along the route. You can also take part in hunting and gathering mini-games.
Touchscreen hunting makes shooting cuddly rabbits and nutty squirrels an easy tap. Bigger game like deer and buffalo, however, demand more effort. Fishing and a new berry foraging mini-game join the mix.
An assortment of other mini-games are tied to wagon repairs, gold mongering, river crossing, and telegraphing. Gold panning, in particular, earns recognition for tailoring to the handset's accelerometer. Tilting the device back and forth sifts out nuggets that you can collect with a tap of the screen.
While these mini-games won't have you stampeding to play The Oregon Trail, they do introduce an entertaining variety.
Improvements to the presentation and flow of play are also immediately apparent. The difficulty has been tweaked to ensure treatment along the journey, although random hazards remain as a reminder of the realities of trail life.
Vibrant vector graphics replace the pixels of old, bringing a fresh charm to this revamped release. Lengthy loading times are the price paid for this visual overhaul, unfortunately.
Having to wait a few seconds when moving between the trail and pit stops is slightly annoying, yet The Oregon Trail is so much fun to play that it's but a small hang up.
That such a dangerous trek could be transformed into such a cheeky adventure shows the rich craftsmanship of this modern mobile classic.

iDracula Undead Awakening 1.1 iPhone iPod Touch

iDracula Undead Awakening 1.1 iPhone iPod Touch | 14,7 MB
Two-stick arcade shooters have become very popular since the advent of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved on Xbox LIVE Arcade. The pick up and play nature of such games happens to be very well suited to the iPhone gaming philosophy of accessible and immediate experiences. In iDracula you take control of a guy with a cool hat and a nifty pair of boots, with the sole aim being to shoot as many of the incoming monsters as possible before they spoil your fun. Instead of two sticks as you'd get in console shooters of this type, there are some circles on the touch screen that act like analogue sticks would, moving your character with the left, and aiming the selected weapon with the right. While this is certainly a viable interpretation of traditional two-stick action, a lack of tactile feedback leaves you disconnected and not fully in control. Another disadvantage of using the touch screen is that your thumbs take up a small portion of it, enough to block your view of some of the oncoming enemies that might take you by surprise, but not enough to ruin a good run.

There are two main game modes, survival and rush, both of which pit you against waves of enemies for you to deal with. The differences are in pacing and depth. Rush drops you straight into some heavy action with at least a dozen monsters attacking you at any time, and an always fully loaded mini-gun to greet them with. Survival makes the game more interesting by slowing things down and adding depth to the experience through the availability of new weapons, a variety of enemies and a perks system that lets you choose from four random upgrades at intervals during the game.
The iPhone is starting to hit its stride, with developers figuring out the visual capabilities of the device, and iDracula is a great example of this. Imagine a top down view on your typical Castlevania game, and that’s a pretty accurate representation of the Gothic aesthetic - the game looks brilliant on iPhone’s high resolution screen and the animation is surprisingly proficient.

G.I. Joyride 1.0 iPhone iPod Touch

G.I. Joyride 1.0 iPhone iPod Touch | 7,58 MB
G.I. Joyride, from Trapdoor, is a game that puts you in control of an armored troop carrier, with just one aim… to steam-roll your way through goose-stepping Nazi’s.
On booting up the game you are presented with suitably wartime-style swing music and, as with all war games of this era, the dirtied up dossier menu system. A quick tap of start and you’re off. The level starts with you landing on the beach, and you must immediately step on the gas by touching the right side of the screen. Stay stationary too long and you’ll be targeted and blown to smithereens, so it’s a good idea to get a move on. You’ll gain momentum pretty quickly, and from then on it’s a case of keeping your ATC level over jumps and bumps via tilt. Tilt your iPhone right to lower the front and left to raise it up, or wheelie.

That’s all there is to it really, just sit back and enjoy knocking over Nazi’s. If you get shot too many times or a bomber lands a strike on you, then it’s game over… but until that happens the level is endless. I’m guessing the engine pulls up random sections of pre built levels and stitches them together.
After your game is over you are given a rating with a comedy description of what happens when your men are caught. Once back in the main menu you can visit the stats menu to view your kills, medals earned and how much distance you covered. As well as stats you can view your records, such as Best Wheelie, biggest airtime and best flip combos.
